Sally and Johnny’s friendship started with music and dancing.
They met through Tiffany, a mutual friend and dancer.
Tiffany and Sally became friends while taking swing dance classes at Four on the Floor;
Tiffany and Johnny became friends while dancing at Ringside at Sullivan’s and Momo’s.
Johnny was eager to practice more complicated dance moves as well as Collegiate Shag (a dance no one was previously doing in Austin).
Several times Tiffany would tell Johnny, “I'm not really interested in doing that move, but you should do that with my friend Sally.”
Eventually Sally and Johnny met on a Thursday night at the weekly Austin Swing Syndicate’s dance at “The Fed.”
Their first conversation was over a discussion of six-count versus eight-count steps.
Back in 2007 there were great hot swing bands playing almost every night;
Sally and Johnny’s friendship blossomed through their joy of listening and dancing to these bands.
They became really good friends outside of dance too.
They remained best friends for about a year before Johnny realized that the girl for him had been right in front of him for so long.
There are so many things that make Sally and Johnny a great team:
they both love Hot and New Orleans Jazz; enjoy dancing all of the vintage swing dances including Charleston, Lindy Hop, Balboa, and Collegiate Shag;
fine dining; the customer’s experience; creating music; enjoying good cocktails and wines; and much more.
